Saturday, February 2nd, noon Vegan Meet Up
Whole Foods, 2305 North Prospect Ave
Please join CUFA for the February Vegan Meet Up-Milwaukee at noon on February 2nd at Whole Foods, 2305 North Prospect Ave on Milwaukee’s East Side. Whether you are a long-time vegan who wants to try a new place or a new vegan, curious, or just willing to try, you will not want to miss this special dining experience.
Many people already know Whole Foods Market as the world's leading natural and organic foods supermarket, but what you may not know about is their amazing vegan friendly restaurant within the store! Chef Jordan Short is very excited to welcome Vegan Meet Up to Whole Foods and is making special arrangements for our seating and dining options. He is very knowledgeable about vegan food and focused on presentation, flavor and creativity in all he prepares for the pre-made food section of Whole Foods. The vegan options are tantalizing and literally endless with stations that include: made-to-order sushi, rice & noodle bowls, pasta bar, pizza station, made-to-order pananinis, Mediterranean/anti-pasti, olive bar, extensive salad and hot food bars, and desserts from Chicago Diner and East Side Ovens. All food is priced per pound with average meals running in the $7-$10 range.

Please join CUFA for the January Vegan Meet Up-Milwaukee at Taj Mahal, 5114 S. 108th St., in Hales Corners. Whether you are a long-time vegan who wants to try a new place or a new vegan, curious, or just willing to try, you will not want to miss this awesome dining experience. Many of you may remember the owners of Taj Mahal, cousins Balbir Bhela and Surjit Singh, as formerly operating Jewel of India restaurant downtown. They have continued their tradition of offering wonderful authentic Indian cuisine and an all-you-can-eat lunch buffet in Hales Corners. Heavily vegan, the subtle lure of well-blended spices, the wide variety of fresh flatbreads and even the nutty flavor of basmati rice all make this exotic restaurant an ideal destination for vegan diners seeking adventurous fare. The menu also includes delicious baked mild curries, vegetable fritters, and wonderful samosas. The daily lunch buffet offers a great chance to sample a large spectrum of the menu and is a great value at $7.95 and includes tea and dessert. Please contact Kim at cufa-wi@hotmail.com to RSVP by Friday, January 4th.

The meeting will take place in our usual location of the Community Room on the lower level of Mayfair Mall and will begin promptly at 7pm. Light vegan snacks will be served. We will also play “Steal the Gift”. If you would like to participate in the game, please bring a small wrapped token gift. It may be something nice or a “joke” gift not to exceed $5.00. No R.S.V.P. is required, just show up!!! We look forward to meeting you all and celebrating the holidays together.
January 12th, noon The Annual International Mink Assn Convention Demo
The Annual International Mink Assn Convention will convene in Milwaukee and CUFA will be there along with Alliance for Animals, PETA and other Midwest activists to let the furriers know they and their entire industry of blood, suffering, and greed are NOT WELCOME. Please join us in a peaceful demonstration of sign holding and literature distribution as we use our voices to speak out for the defenseless animals who need our help! The convention will once again take place at the former Four Points Sheraton Airport, now owned by Wyndham Hotels located at 4747 South Howell Avenue, Milwaukee, WI 53207. The demo will be on Saturday, January 12th between 12 and 2 pm. We have signs and literature, so just show up and help us end the horrific animal suffering inherent in the fur industry. We need to make sure public opinion favors the animals and get the message out to the public that slaughtering beautiful, defenseless animals in order to wear their pelts is barbaric and unacceptable!! Wisconsin has the embarrassing distinction of being the #1 mink fur producing state in the nation and we need to get out there and let everyone know that we will not go away until the suffering and exploitation end. ANIMALS FEEL PAIN AND ARE NOT FABRIC. They deserve better and you can help! To learn more about the sickening fur industry, please www.furisdead.com
