Please join CUFA for the September Vegan Meet Up-Milwaukee at Ethiopian Cottage Restaurant, a wonderful addition to our vegan-dining scene located at 1824 N. Farwell Ave.

Whether you are a long-time vegan who wants to try a new place or a new vegan, curious, or just willing to try, you will not want to miss this awesome dining experience.

Ethiopian food is traditionally served on Injera, a flatbread comprised of Teff, a tiny cereal grain that has been the staple food of Ethiopia since sometime around 4000 B.C. To the American diner, Injera will be reminiscent of an unleavened, bubbly buckwheat/sourdough pancake. The Injera acts as your plate, fork, knife and spoon, and dishes are served collectively on one or two large pieces of the Injera as well. The menu here smartly begins by defining all the terms on the menu and also gives basic instructions for use of your Injera.

With the word VEGAN in big red letters on the front window, it’s no surprise that the menu is loaded with numerous vegan options found under the appetizer, salad and entrée listings. Prices range between $3.50 and $9.25. Ethiopian beer and wine are available in addition to American beverages.
